Day 1:
Upon arrival at the airport of Catania transfer to the hotel in the Alcantara Valley. Time to unpack and relax. Tonight, enjoy a welcoming dinner at the hotel.
Day 2:
After breakfast, we will drive uphill to Savoca, one of the most famous and lovely small towns in the area of Taormina. Here Francis Ford Coppola filmed the
movie “The Godfather I”. Then continuing to Forza d’Agrò, a nice medieval town, overlooking the Ionian Sea, where F.F. Coppola shot several scenes for “The Godfather II”. Proceeding on to Motta di Camastra, where part of “the Godfather III”was filmed. Stopping for a home-hosted lunch. You will be delighted by warm Sicilian hospitality and share a home-cooked meal. After lunch visit to the beautiful Alcantara gorges, of volcanic origin. Returning to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 3:
After breakfast we will drive to Taormina “pearl of Sicily”, where we will visit the Greek-Roman theatre; time for shopping. Lunch on your own. In the afternoon we will visit the villa where some scenes of “Godfather III” were shot. Return to the hotel. Dinner in a small restaurant.
Day 4:
Today we will drive to Caltagirone, the capital of Sicilian pottery; walking tour. Continuing to one of the most spectacular series of Roman mosaics in the world: the Roman Villa del Casale in Piazza Armerina. Its 35.000 sq feet of mosaic pavings from the 3rd-4th C. AD have been declared as World Heritage by Unesco. Lunch in a typical farmhouse. Proceeding on to Agrigento. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5:After breakfast, visit to the Valley of the Temples. Lunch. Continuing across a nice and hilly landscape to Caltabellotta, one of the most ancient towns
founded up in the mountains and overlooking the African Sea. Visit of the town. Continuing to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 6:
This morning we drive towards Corleone, the town that inspired the famous movies By F.F. Coppola. Walking tour to the old town. Lunch on the way to the nice Albanian town of Palazzo Adriano, setting of the famous movie ”Cinema Paradiso”. Visit of the Greek-Orthodox Cathedral and the typical cobble-stone streets. Arrival in Palermo. Dinner at the restaurant. Overnight.
Day 7:
After breakfast orientation tour of Palermo. Brief stop at the “Teatro Massimo”(Opera House), where the last part of “Godfather III” was filmed in 1992. Visit of Monreale, with its splendid Norman Cathedral covered of Byzantine mosaics. Lunch. Continuing to Cefalù, charming fishing and tourist town on the
Mediterranean Sea. Visit of the Arab-Norman Cathedral and return to Palermo. Dinner at the restaurant. Overnight.
Day 8:
After breakfast transfer to the airport of Palermo.
