Day 1:
Your driver will meet you upon arrival in Palermo’s airport. You will be transfered to the hotel. Time to relax. At dinner time your driver will take you to a
typical restaurant.
Day 2:
Are you ready for the exciting city of Palermo? Visit the Cathedral, the Martorana church. Then continue to Monreale for the visit of the marvellous Cathedral and the Benedictine Cloister. Lunch on your own. In the afternoon optional tour to the “Capo” market, Mount Pellegrino and Mondello, summer resort of Palermo. Dinner in a typical local restaurant. Overnight.
Day 3:
Only 40 miles away from Palermo, nice drive uphill towards the Albanian town of Palazzo Adriano, setting of the famous movie “Cinema Paradiso”. Walking tour in the charming cobble-stone streets and visit to the Greek-Orthodox Cathedral. Continuing to Corleone. Short walking tour. Then stop in the wooded Nature Reserve of Ficuzza, where you can see the monumental Hunting Palace of King Ferdinand III of Bourbon. Typical Sicilian lunch. Continuing to Piana Degli Albanesi, capital of the famous Sicilian “Cannolo”. Return to Palermo. Overnight.
Day 4:
After breakfast, we will drive across a nice and hilly landscape to Caltabellotta, one of the most ancient towns founded up in the mountains and overlooking the African Sea. Visit to the town. Lunch. Continuing to Agrigento, visit to the Valley of the Temples. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight.
Day 5:
Today we will visit one of the most spectacular series of Roman mosaics in the world: the Villa del Casale in Piazza Armerina. Its 35.000 sq feet of mosaic pavings from the 3rd-4th C. AD have been declared as World Heritage by Unesco. Lunch in a typical farmhouse. Continuing to Enna, the “navel” of Sicily. The medieval town lies on the summit of Mt. Erei and is a natural “belvedere”.Visiting the castle of Lombardia. Proceeding on to Caltagirone, the capital of Sicilian pottery; walking tour. Dinner and overnight.
Day 6:
Today you are going to explore Mt Etna ( this trip is subject to weather conditions and volcanic activity ). Mt Etna is the highest active volcano in Europe. Enjoy some free time and take a walk on the cold lava flows! Transfer to a local winery for lunch. Later in the afternoon arrival at the hotel. Dinner on your own. Overnight.
Day 7:
Enjoy a free day in the “pearl of Sicily”! You can eventually visit the Greek Theatre located on the summit of Mt Tauro, facing the whole gulf of Taormina and stroll in the lovely Medieval streets of the old town. Today lunch on your own.Dinner in a typical pizzeria. Overnight.
Day 8:
After breakfast transfer to the airport
